Woman Thrown off Plane for Breast-feeding Sues Airlines

The woman from New Mexico that was thrown off of a plane for breast-feeding her baby has sued the three airlines that operated the flight. She was taken off of the plane because she refused to cover herself with a blanket while breastfeeding. The Santa Fe woman’s story sparked interest across the country, spurring almost twenty “nurse-in” protests in various airports. She was taken off of the plane after almost a three hour delay in takeoff.

She is sueing for an unspecified amount of punitive and compensatory damages. The airlines involved were Delta Airlines, Freedom Airlines, and Mesa Air Group. The lawsuit was filed in US District Court in Burlington on Wednesday.
