Woman Leaps from Van Seconds Before Train Collision
A train-versus-mini van accident occurred in Lithia Springs Ga., and resulted in no injuries. This was due to the fact that the woman driving the van leapt out of the van mere second before the train’s impact. The female driver was then able to clear the scene just as the Amtrak train, traveling westbound from Atlanta, hit her vehicle.
Victim Sayda Guerra was on her way to work when and was stopped in traffic. A few minutes into her wait, Rail Road crossing gates soon came down in front and behind her without warning, She attempted to back out but soon realized she wouldn’t be able to make it on time. She jumped out of the vehicle seconds before The Crescent train, which was on its way from New York to New Orleans, struck her van.
Guerra was unhurt in the incident as were the 96 passengers on board. The Amtrak train was also able to continue on after a 90-minute delay.
