University of Michigan to Settle Case with Ex-Student

The University of Michigan has dropped an appeal of the $1.7 million verdict and has agreed to settle the lawsuit with a former dental student. The student had convinced the jury that she was illegally kicked out of school. Lawyers for Alissa Zwick and four faculty members said they’ve made a deal in a court filing released earlier this week. No details of the settlement have been filed.

Under terms of the deal, “I am only allowed to say the case has been resolved,” Zwick’s lawyer, Deborah Gordon, said Friday.
