Three Indiana Guard Injured in Escape Attempt
Officials for the Indiana corrections system recently reported that three teenage inmates in a southern Indiana jail attempted to escape, attacking three guards and briefly holding them hostage in the process. The escape attempt consisted of the teenagers stabbing two guards before being shocked with tasers and taken into custody.
Guard Walter Peace was stabbed in the head and transported by helicopter to a hospital in Indianapolis. Vickie Day, a second guard, was also taken to a hospital with less critical injuries. Among those involved in the escape attempt was a seventeen-year-old convicted of the murder of an elderly couple. The other inmates were seventeen and nineteen years old.
