Teachers Benefit From Stimulus Spending

Among the demographics that have benefited from the recent effort save jobs via a $787 billion recovery package, teachers seem to have benefited the most. Billions of dollars were sent to states that were on the brink of ordering heavy layoffs in education, but the jobs of estimated tens of thousands of teachers nationwide have been saved by this stimulus package. Other employment areas expected to report a good number of jobs saved include construction companies, due to billions of dollars in highway repair and maintenance money.

In California alone, the stimulus bill has been credited with saving or creating over sixty-two thousand jobs in public schools and state-funded universities. Utah reported roughly two and a half thousand jobs saved, Missouri reported their number at about eight and a half thousand, and Minnesota just under six thousand.
