The suit was intended to remove prostitution ads from the site. United States District Court Judge John Grady said that not all postings on Craigslist’s ‘adult services’ section were advertisements for prostitution, and that other legitimate services appeared there. “A woman advertising erotic dancing for male clients is offering an adult service, yet this is not prostitution,” he said in a 31-page opinion Tuesday.

He also said that such an ad “might even be entitled to some limited protection under the First Amendment” to the U.S. Constitution. Grady contended that Craigslist is not at fault if posts violate the guideline barring advertisements for prostitution.
