Suspect in Terror Case Visited Beauty Stores for Bomb Components
Afghan-born Najibullah Zazi visited beauty supply stores in Denver, Colorado, in order to find chemical components needed to build bombs for Al-Qaida, authorities say. In one of the allegedly severe terror threats since 9-11, the report describing the conspiracy also contains information regarding other members of a terror cell, suggesting a planned attack using homemade bombs on US soil. Zazi, who is a twenty-four-year-old coffee cart owner in New York, and a Denver airport shuttle driver, was charged with conspiracy to use weapons of mass destruction.
Zazi was arrested a week ago on charges of lying to terrorist investigators. Authorities have sent out warnings to hotels, transit systems, sports complexes, and other areas at risk. Several beauty salons and home improvement stores are being researched in an attempt to find suspects. Zazi has publicly denied being a terrorist since his arrest.
