South Dakota Ban on Smoking

In a controversial law that passed in the South Dakota legislature this year, the state voted to ban all smoking in bars, casinos and video lottery establishments.  Prior to this law, the state voted to ban all smoking in workplaces and public areas.

There has been tremendous opposition to the law.  Businesses, mainly bars and casinos are fighting through the courts to reject the law.  Thousands of petitions have been signed.
