Sniper Will Ask Virginia Governor for Clemency

The attorney for the convicted sniper John Allen Muhammed has said that he plans to ask the governor of Virginia for clemency for his client. Muhammed is currently scheduled for execution next month. Kaine had said previously that he is unlikely to grant clemency, but would review the request. Muhammed has been sentenced to death for the killing of Dean Harold Meyers at a Manassas gas station during a series of shootings that left ten people dead and three wounded in October 2002. The shootings occured in Virginia, Maryland, and Washington D.C. Muhammed’s accomplice is currently serving a life sentence.
