Popular Weed Killer May Pose Health Risks

A popular weed killer may be leching into our nations water supplies according to the Environmental Protection Agency. New research by the EPA had uncovered  amounts of atrazine, an herbicide commonly used on corn and other crops,  in  many national reservoirs.  It is speculated that atrazine got into the water supply because of f run offs after rain storms, which can wash the pollutant into streams and rivers.  It then has the  ability to get into American drinking supplies.

This can be dangerous as even low levels of this particular herbicide has been shown to cause birth defects , low birth weights and reproductive problems.

EPA officials  are speculating on what their findings mean and will soon  decide whether further restrictions are needed to protect human health.
