One Dead, Eight Injured in Helicopter Crash
Navy officials say a helicopter crash during a training exercise has left one service member dead and eight injured. The crash occured aboard the USNS Arctic at around eight in the evening on Thursday, off the coast of Fort Story, Va., according to Navy spokesperson Lt. Cmdr. Phil Rosi. The service members that were injured have been evacuated by a second Army helicopter and taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Rosi said the training exercise involved two Army helicopters and several members of a Naval Special Warfare unit. The names of the dead and injured service members have not been released.
