NYPD say Beating of Gay Man Possibly a Hate Crime
Members of the New York Police Department recently reported that the forty-nine-year-old homosexual man that was beaten may have been a victim of a hate crime. Jack Price was leaving a corner deli near his home when he was assaulted by two men in what appears to be a crime stemming from anti-gay sentiment. He currently remains in a medically induced coma, and is in serious but stable condition.
Police spokespeople reported that the two suspects taunted Price before and during the attack, yelling anti-gay slurs while he was in the store early Friday. They attacked him once he came outside, near the College Point neighborhood in Queens. One suspect, twenty-six-year-old Daniel Aleman, was arrested on Sunday and charged with aggravated assault as a hate crime. The second suspect is still being sought.
