Man Wanted Burial Plot by Murdered Wife

A man from western Pennsylvania who was charged with murdering his wife has been accused of forging documents that would have allowed him to steal a cemetery plot. He was attempting to steal the plot so he could be buried alongside his wife. John Gerholt Sr., age thirty-nine, claims that he accidentally shot his wife, twenty-four-year-old Karen Gerholt. The shooting occured on November 9th, 2008, as she was leaving work at a McDonald’s.

Prosecutors say that Gerholt killed his wife on purpose, and are recommending the death penalty. Authorities have charged Gerholt with forging the documents from jail.
