Man in Santa Costume Tries to Kidnap Girl

Police representatives of a Cleveland suburb say that a man dressed as Santa attempted to kidnap a twelve-year-old girl walking to school. Anthony Russo was later arrested, still wearing his costume, carrying a box of candy and a large sack. Authorities say the forty-six-year-old is jailed pending charges, which are expected to come Thursday.

A police spokesperson says that Russo was hiding in the bushes in costume and jumped out to grab the girl. He says that Russo tried to get the girl into the bushes, but she escaped. Russo then followed her and grabbed her arm before she went into a store and told a worker about the encounter.
