Man Claims he was Beaten by Police over Cell Phone Pics
29-year-old Michael O’Brien claims he was roughed up and manhandled by police who were angry that he was filming them with his cell phone. O’Brien decided to pursue personal injury litigation by filing a lawsuit this past Thursday against six Boston police officers. He indicated in his suit that that the severe beating caused permanent brain injury.
The March 16th scuffle occurred after O’Brien’s friend was involved in a car accident. One of the policemen who responded to the call, an Officer David Williams, allegedly threw the man onto the ground. Williams then proceeded to choke him while another officer grabbed his cell phone because he was filming them.
O’Brien was charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and assault and battery on one of the officers for the March incident.
An official police spokesperson would not comment on the impending lawsuit.
