Jury has Difficult Time Convicting Junior Gotti on Murder and Rackateering Charges
The son of the infamous “Teflon Don” John Gotti may have inherited his fathers ability to beat the system. This could signal a 4th mistrial for John “Junior” as jurors signaled to a Judge this past Thursday that they were deadlocked on ,murder and miscellaneous charges against the man.
U.S District Court Judge Kevin Castel was told that the Manhattan based group was unable to reach a verdict on the 7th day of deliberations. The judge instructed the jurors to keep deliberating but sent them home around 4 p.m. telling them to return on Monday. He also advised them not to think about the case and put the matter aside until deliberations began anew.
This trial is the 4th one in five years against the Junior Gotti in regards to an attempted murder and kidnapping case. Previous cases in 2005 and 2006 ended in hung juries, and revolved around the plot to kill Guardian Angels founder Curtis Sliwa. Prosecutors later added charges that included gangland murders that occurred in 1980 and a hit on a Gambino crime family associate who ignored an order from Gotti.
