Hearing Held in Diocese Bankruptcy

A bankruptcy judge recently granted first-day motions in the Catholic Diocese of Wilmington’s bankruptcy. The diocese filed for bankruptcy on Sunday the night before what would be the first of eight trials in lawsuits brought forth by alleged victims of the priests’ sexual abuse. The judge on Wednesday approved the diocese’s request to use its existing cash management system, as well as the request to pay employee wages and benefits. There are several more hearings scheduled.
