Former Law Grad Turned Prostitute Receives in Home Detention Sentence
A Standford law graduate turned escort was ordered to pay the government $243, 000 dollars in back taxes that she owed during her year long stint as a escort. She would also have to serve a year under house arrest which includes wearing an electronic monitoring device. Defendant, Christina Warthen, earned an estimated $82, 000 in 2003 as an escort in major cities around the country, which included Chicago, New York and Washington DC.
The $230,000 dollar sum she was ordered to pay in back taxes was reduced from an initial judgment of $313,000 after a plea arrangement. It was argued that she would not be able to pay the initial amount after her divorce.
Warthen has acknowledged that she was able to pay off her student loans, but this fact has had no bearing in her sentencing and judgment.
