Driver Killed after Release of Ammonia in CF Terminal
The release of anhydrous ammonia at CF Holdings Inc., in Pine Bend Minn., resulted in the fatality of a company truck driver. Another truck worker was also injured during loading operations after the agent was mysteriously introduced into the environment. Authorities and CF Holdings. Inc. officials are investigating the incident for the catalyst.
CF Holdings also released an official statement Monday evening to assure the public that the community at large was not in harm’s way. The name of the fatally wounded driver was not released at press time. The surviving but seriously hurt worker was taken to a local hospital and admitted.
General manager of distribution facilities for CF Industries, Brian Spencer, revealeld that the employee was in hospital with “undetermined injuries.”
