California Pot Legalization Gaining Momentum
Advocates of the legalization of marijuana seem to be gathering support in California, and are planning to have at least three legalization measures on the ballot for 2010. The movement is getting enough attention and support that many predict 2010 to hold a tremendous clash between California voters and the national government.
California has already legalized the personal use of marijuana for medical reasons, and citizens are allowed to buy it from medical marijuana dispensaries around the state. Possession of marijuana has also been decriminalized to the point that if you have less than one ounce and are over twenty-one years old, the most you can receive is a hundred dollar fine. However, even if the bill passes and marijuana is made legal in California, the national government will still have the ability to raid nurseries, dispensaries, and make arrests based on federal law.
