Assets Seized from Florida Lawyer
The South Florida lawyer suspected of running a huge fraud scheme has had a number of assets seized, according to a court filing on Monday. Proceeds from the seizures will be given to investors who said they were duped by Scott Rothstein, a collection of whom filed a lawsuit to the tune of $100 million against him last week. The Canadian bank that handled many of the transactions is also being targeted in the lawsuit.
Authorities took twenty luxury cars, fifteen pieces of property, and three boats, as well as several bank accounts in Morocco and some contributions to charity and political campaigns. Rothstein has not yet been charged with a crime.
