$7M Awarded to Victim’s Family for Ky. Plane Crash

A jury has awarded over seven million dollars to the family of a passenger that was killed in the crash of a Comair regional jet in Kentucky in 2006. The suit was filed by survivors of Bryan Keith Woodward, and is the only passenger suit that reached trial. The jet crashed after attempting to take off from a runway that was too short for commercial jets. Forty-nine people were killed – the National Transportation Safety Board found that the pilots did not realize they were on the wrong runway.

A jury will decide if the airline was negligent, which would make the family eligible for punitive damages.
